Adrienne Slover is an elementary educator and co-founder of Reel Start. As part of her work with the organization, she facilitates weekly sessions that connect students from marginalized communities with film industry professionals. Adrienne is committed to creating an environment where youth feel at ease and see their experiences reflected in those of the experts they meet, recognizing the profound impact of representation on their sense of belonging and empowerment.
With 18 years of teaching experience, Adrienne has consistently championed initiatives that support students facing adversity. At her school, she launched a winter clothing drive, which grew into a community resource room providing essentials for families adjusting to Canadian winters. Her other efforts include organizing book drives and supplying learning materials, enabling students to continue their education at home. Adrienne also mentors high school co-op students annually, inspiring the next generation of educators and showcasing the rewards of working in education.
Adrienne brings to Reel Start a deep commitment to amplifying the voices of youth who are often overlooked. She firmly believes that with the right opportunities and support, every child can thrive. The heartfelt letters of gratitude she receives from parents and students—and the surprise visits from former students—are testaments to her transformative impact.
Outside of her work with Reel Start and her school community, Adrienne enjoys spending time with her two daughters and supportive husband. A yoga enthusiast and avid traveler, she embraces both mindfulness and adventure in her personal life.
