Dumpster Diving

Story

After literally meeting inside a dumpster, two best buds dabble in crime and freestyle rapping as their friendship is put to the ultimate test.

Why we made it

Our Los Angeles students wanted to tell a story about the pressure from gangs in their community, but they didn’t want it to come off as a heavy-handed afterschool special. Instead, they focused on the more ridiculous aspects of gang life, like the outrageous posturing and bizarre initiation rites. By using a light touch to tackle a serious subject, they were able to tell their story in a unique, accessible way.
